more “Gypsy Queen” video production shots
Well, it's been a few months and our baby - the music video Elizabeth Orne and I made for Kristin Diable - is still in the editing process. The editor is working hard on getting it done as soon as possible and we're all in the great dance of back-and-forth between technical details and edit notes. At the moment, "Gypsy Queen" video is in London being worked on by a fine surgeon of an editor who's relaxing from his more-than-full-time job of editing Apple commercials (among other things) to ... edit more projects.
In the meantime, I have a link to more behind-the-scenes shots from a great photographer and really nice guy named Eric M. Townsend.

aaaaand that's me - the shadowey lurker to the left.
one last one ...
I have to admit it's pretty amazing to head to Eric's site and (at least for the moment )see our shoot front and center above some other small acts like Bruce Springstein, The Flaming Lips, and REM.
Eric came by set to shoot the process and even the cover of Kristin's new EP "Extended Play". I have to give it to both of them .. after a 16-hour day shooting, they were able to bang out a cover shot in five minutes in front of the abandoned theater that was our location while the rest of us were loading the vans and looking around the lawn for our sanity.

More Stills …
I don't want to tip our hats too much, but I pulled a few more screenshots while going through the"Gypsy Queen" video footage and wanted to share.
Next week the hard drive is shipped off to our editor in London and the countdown begins before I can add the final color palette. I can't wait to see the finished product.

“Gypsy Queen” production stills
Thanks to Jake and his iphone for these. It's amazing what he captures when nobody's looking.

“Gypsy Queen” Video Stills
The footage is shot and we're in the days-long process of returning the pass van worth of equipment - both rented, begged, and borrowed. But while we're doing that, I wanted to post screenshots of a few of the dailies.
I have a lot of people to thank for making this happen on such a tight budget. First, Jake Pena, for letting us borrow his Canon 5D Mark II to shoot the video - I'm really in his debt for that; Jake Rogers and Mark Gong for a long day of help with grip, capture, and AC; Shanti Carson and Mark Chandler for braving the cold and acting through it all; Robb Scharetg for his beautiful Nikon primes, silks and scrim; Aaron Hunt for his Fresnel lights; Ted at Milk studios for hookin' a brother up; my roommates Ian, Chris, and William for lending their equipment; the guys at Arri CSC for getting us our dolly, track and HMI; Mac and all the guys at FDNY for their willingness to help with the location; finally John for being a producer-turned-gaffer with no complaint.

the big show …
Today was our first of two days shooting a video for Kristin Diable's new song "Gypsy Queen". The first two photos were taken at Arri CSC in NJ (otherwise known as Mecca; Elizabeth conceded that she'd have sex with that brand if it was possible).
Our 6 am arrival - with Elizabeth Orne (director), Jake Rogers (one-man gaffer / digi tech extraordinaire).
and finally us in action, shooting a cast of nine.
I'd write more but I can't see straight. For now, this update will have to do. Though before I wrap this up, I have to mention just what amazing friends I have. If it weren't for all their help and support, this project never would've gotten off the ground. I owe them all a tremendous amount. I'm feeling well loved, but also aiming to do more giving in the coming months to make up for all this.
